Make Money From Google Without Ads

When I started my business, I did what most entrepreneurs do and I created a website.
I created a website, and nobody came.
For about two years, I experienced a trickle of website traffic which resulted in a trickle of leads, which of course resulted in zero sales, at least from my website anyway.
Then I implemented a powerful tool we all know, yep SEO, and I watched as I started making money from Google.
Today, I make thousands of dollars every single month from Google without paid ads, and I'm going to share with you how I do it.
All right, let's get you all set up here so we can have a really great conversation about using Google for your business.
As I've already mentioned, I really believe that this can work for every single business. And this is actually something that we teach inside of my program, Roadmap to Freedom. We have all kinds of different types of businesses, doulas, coaches, consultants, graphic designers, photographers, and product-based businesses. I've seen it work and I want to share with you exactly what you need to have in place for this to work for your business as well.
Like most entrepreneurs, you probably have a website, or you're thinking about creating a website, and that is amazing. But what we neglect to think about is how that website is going to get traffic. That's where SEO comes into play.
But before I get into that, let's back it up just a little bit and talk about what I'm selling on my website, because I think this plays a really big role.
A lot of people think that in order to make thousands of dollars every month, you need to have courses on evergreen. You need to be doing affiliate sales, maybe that's in the back of your mind, selling e-books, selling a product.
And all of that does work, don't get me wrong, but what I'm making this money from is my high-level one-on-one. I just wanted to share that because I don't want you to think that you have to create a course from the ground up to then sell it in order for this to work.
You can very easily package your one-on-one services into a 1:1 relationship and sell those because that's what I'm doing. And as I've already mentioned, product-based businesses, all kinds of businesses, can benefit from this marketing strategy.
Make Money from Google Step #1: Your Offer
So the very first thing that you want to have is an offer because if we're going to be getting this traffic, we want people to take action.
Now, that's not to say that you can't implement SEO early on in your business. If you're going to do that and you don't have an offer yet, make sure you have a lead magnet. I talk a lot about list building on the Brandmerry YouTube Channel and on my podcast, The Brandmerry Podcast.
But essentially, you want to have something that your audience can take action on. Why is this important? Because the type of SEO that I'm going to encourage you to implement is going to apply to someone who is at the final stages of the customer buying journey.
What is that, Michelle? What is the customer buying journey? I talk about that entire process more in-depth in this video right here, so definitely check that out.
But essentially, your ideal customer could be coming in at the very beginning stages of understanding their problem all the way to the point where they are ready to invest. They know the solution, they know their options, and they're just looking for the right person.
That is the target that we want to capture with this strategy because those people are more likely to sign up quickly. They need less warming up and they're ready to invest. So because of that, they are turning to Google to look for very, very specific solutions to their problem.
We often think about SEO as it applies to blogging. And while that is amazing and also something we teach inside of Roadmap to Freedom, you can get started with just site-wide SEO.
What that essentially means is that you want to categorize your website for your industry or your title. So if someone is looking for a branding coach, they would go to Google, type in branding coach, and come across my name, which would lead them to my website.
The person who is looking for a branding coach is most likely in a place where they are ready to hire one.
Make Money from Google Step #2: Research
This is where the second step comes in. At first, we talked about your offer which is very, very important. The second step is going to be the research. You are going to have to do very thorough research in order to rank on Google.
This is something that we teach the entire process step by step inside a Roadmap to Freedom because it does matter.
You can't just guess. There are so many entrepreneurs who are just guessing on what their site title should be. They're just guessing on what their blog title should be. There is data available to us on the internet that will tell us how likely we are to rank and if people are actually searching for that.
So there are two tools that I love to use in my business. I've shared them before on this channel. One of them is called Ubersuggest. I will often use Ubersuggest when I'm creating SEO for my blog post.
But then what do I use when I'm wanting to create my site-wide SEO? That tool is called Keywords Everywhere. Y'all, it's a paid tool, but it's like $10 for a ton of searches and a ton of data. And it's worth every freaking penny because you don't know what you don't know about keywords. And if you can really get the data to back up what you want to title your site and what you want to put in your site description, then you're going to be able to rank, show up, and get traffic a lot faster.
So Keywords Everywhere is my favorite tool. Of course, there are a lot out there. Feel free to do a bunch of research and find the one that works for you or just use the one that I recommend.
So back to the research. You're going to want to determine what is your industry, what is your title, and are people searching for those specific keywords?
So you might have to get a little creative with it. For instance, I have clients who are photographers who have a really broad location base and there might be a lot of searches and a lot of competition for that location base.
I'm not suggesting that they don't use those keywords but that they find some smaller markets, cities, towns near them that are also getting great searches that they can show up for. Because if there's less competition, you're more likely to show up not only on page one, but also near the top.
Really think about how you're saying things. Branding coach, for example, that's something I've been ranking for a really long time. Couple of years ago, we added personal branding consultant. There are all kinds of different ways that you can talk about your industry, your title, and your products.
For instance, let's say you create holistic skincare in San Diego, California. There are a lot of different ways that you can put these together to create your site title and your site description, but you want to make sure that it's backed up by data, that people are actually searching for it. Otherwise, it's not going to matter.
Make Money from Google Step #3: Implementation
Okay, so after you've done your research, then you want to start to implement the keywords that you have. So you're going to want to focus primarily on your site title and your site description.
Every single website provider offers this. Myself and my clients use Squarespace quite a bit, but if you're using Showit WordPress, Wix, anything like that. You can add your site title and your site description.
Now, it can be really tempting when you're starting out to do this for every single page on your website. And that strategy is a little bit more complex because you don't want competing keywords. This is, again, something that we teach inside Roadmap to Freedom. But for now, I just want you to put this on your site title and your site description. That's going to autofill it for your homepage. That's where people are going to be visiting.
So when you're doing this implementation, you're adding these keywords, it's also really important to note that your website is going to make a big difference in the success of this traffic.
You can have a beautiful website, but your messaging can suck. Or you can have great messaging, but your website isn't compelling.
You want to make sure that your website is optimized for these conversions because traffic means nothing, it's just a number if it's not resulting in leads and sales.
This is another level of SEO that we stress so much inside of my programs because what is on your website, how it is formatted, what you're offering, and your messaging, plays a really big role in this strategy even working at all.
Make Money from Google Step #4: Creating Content
Then the final thing that you want to do after you have implemented these pieces, is that you want to start creating relevant content on your website. Now like I mentioned before, this site-wide SEO strategy will start working immediately. I started showing up in search pretty quickly. I think it was about three months before I started showing up on page one. We started to see an increase in traffic. Now I've just broadened that because I have a lot of blog posts. I have a lot of content on my website.
Because Google essentially wants to know, is what you're saying actually relevant? If you're saying that "These are the keywords. This is how I want you to categorize my website," are you lying? Are you telling the truth? And by creating blog posts, additional pages, content that mirrors those keywords, then you're ultimately telling Google that "I'm legit."
So I have a lot of blog posts on branding, marketing, brand photo shoots, all those different things that really back up my claim to being a branding coach, and a personal branding consultant. So over time, you'll want to create these blog posts.
Now, fun fact. Blogging will not only help you show up via your site-wide SEO, but when you can implement really great SEO on your blog, you can also then rank your blog posts. So then you can start attracting your ideal customer at those early stages when they're just looking for solutions to their problem.
As we all know, blogging is a fantastic way to share content with your audience, bring in new leads, warm up your audience, so on and so forth. All the things I love to talk about. Again, another training inside of Roadmap to Freedom.
We really understand the importance of SEO as an entrepreneur. So the reason I wanted to share this with you is that this has been consistent. This has been happening for two, three years now where I'm making thousands of dollars from someone finding me on Google.
This can be a mixture of my high-level one-on-one, which is where most of that is coming from, but also then discovering my website and opting into my email list and joining the Academy or buying one of my other courses or programs as well. The possibilities are endless.
And if you're an entrepreneur that doesn't want to invest a ton of money in ads, like myself, and really wants to focus on these organic strategies, this is the best place to start.
So like I said at the beginning, this strategy can work for any type of business. The real meat of this is that you have to do the research. A lot of people think, "Oh, I don't want to sit down and do the research, so I'd rather just post every single day on social media."
But in the long run, you're going to save yourself time. Not to mention, you're getting in front of quality leads, people who are ready to invest, rather than just putting a bunch of content out there and hoping that it lands in front of the right person.
Conclusion
So I've shared with you this step-by-step of exactly how you can do this for your own business. But if you don't want to do it by yourself, then you can join us inside of the next round of Roadmap to Freedom, where we teach you exactly how to set up the SEO, how to do the research, and what to look for so that you can start ranking on Google.

How to Increase Your Website Traffic Without Social Media
Social media strategies are outdated. Social Media is meant to be social and keep you on the platform. You have to get in in front of your audience in the right place. Today we're talking about using SEO, Pinterest, and Youtube as your primary strategy for increasing traffic to your website.
BY MICHELLE KNIGHT
What good is your website if nobody actually sees it? It's the number one struggle that entrepreneurs have when they come to me to help them with their marketing.
What I see is that entrepreneurs will build their website, they're doing it themselves, they're hiring a graphic designer, they're hiring a team to do it, and then it sits there. And they're like, well, I spent all this time, I spent all this energy, I spent some money building this website, but no one's actually finding it except for maybe a handful of people that saw it the day that you announced that you had a new website.
We've all been there.
I had a website for about two years before people started to find it because I didn’t know about the strategies I’m sharing with you today.
Now, more than 10,000 people land on my website every single month!
You're going to notice with these four tips, I’m sharing today, that I do not talk about social media.
Listen, social media is an asset. I am not saying there's anything wrong with marketing your business on social media. But when we are talking about consistent quality leads, there are other avenues that you want to have in place for your business.
Social media just isn't the top dog when it comes to marketing your business anymore. And many of my clients actually are overwhelmed with the process of using social media every single day.
I use the analogy that it feels like you're shooting a paper airplane into a sea of people and hoping it hits the right person. The strategies I'm about to share with you are very different and they focus on client attraction.
But, before we get into all of my favorite ways to drive consistent traffic and quality leads to your website, let us first talk about the importance of your website.
THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR WEBSITE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR
Now, I know there's a lot of information floating around the internet on whether or not you need a website and how much energy and time should go into your website.
But I truly believe that one of the greatest assets to entrepreneurs and small business owners is their website. We actually refer to it as your home base over here at Brandmerry because that is essentially what it is.
If you needed to create one spot with all of the information for your ideal customer, whether they are coming in at the beginning of the buying process, just knowing they have a problem and not sure how to solve it, all the way to ready to pull out their credit card and purchase your products and your services, you can create your website.
Your website will serve as your home base.
It is where you get to share your story.
It's where you get to share strong language and connect with your audience.
It's where you get to share powerful resources in the form of a blog, a podcast, or a YouTube channel.
It is where you get to share full sales pages of your offers so people can get all of the information that they need.
It's truly one of my favorite things to support entrepreneurs in creating. But it also can take a really long time. It's one of the reasons that I created an entire training inside of my program, Brandmerry Academy and Roadmap to Freedom because I watched entrepreneurs spending months and months and months building a website.
Now, I am not recommending that this is the route that you go. In fact, many of my clients do it in 30 days or less.
You don't need to have some fancy, beautifully designed website if you don't have a) the budget or b) the time to take care of that.
You just want a central location with your info.
And in this video right here, I talk about the four-part framework for your homepage because your homepage is incredibly important and serves as a kind of launching off point or landing page for all the resources and things that you have on your website.
Now that we understand why your website is important and how it shouldn't take you forever, let's talk about how to get your website seen.
INCREASE WEBSITE TRAFFIC TIP #1
OPTIMIZE FOR SEARCH ENGINES (SEO)
One of the first things that you want to do when you create your new website is making sure that it's optimized for search engines, specifically for Google.
Now, there's a lot of different ways to handle this. I actually talk about SEO specifically in this video right here where I talk about the strategy for SEO, how to create site-wide SEO and some of my favorite ways to boost your overall rankings.
But so many people will create their website and they forget about the technical, very strategic backend that comes into play for site-wide SEO.
We also tend to gravitate a little bit more towards thinking of SEO in terms of blogging, and that is powerful, but what I want you to focus on first and foremost is making sure that your pages, your headings, your site descriptions are optimized.
Here’s an additional blog with some tips on this >>
INCREASE WEBSITE TRAFFIC TIP #2
PINTEREST
My second favorite way to drive traffic to my website and the website of my clients are using Pinterest.
Oh my gosh, I swear this is my love language. I used to use Pinterest as a consumer all the time. Maybe you're like me and you use it to look up recipes and home decor and clothes that you're going to pack for your next vacation and you never really thought about using it for business.
Well, back in 2017, I recognized that a lot of bloggers were using Pinterest and there had to be a way for us to use Pinterest to build our service-based business at the time. So I started exploring it.
I was already blogging, so I looked at ways that I could optimize that. I figured if my ideal customer was already there looking for lifestyle things, what are the odds that they would be there to look for business pieces as well?
We started to see that traffic was consistently coming to my blog. So rather than the one day a week when I shared my blog on social media or emailed my list, I was getting views every single day from Pinterest. That's when I fell in love with it and went all in.
And to this day, we have over a million viewers on Pinterest every single month. And one of my favorite ways to use Pinterest, obviously, is in connection with a blog.
Blogging is a great way for you to have valuable resources, high-value content on your website to support your ideal customer through the buying journey so that if someone's coming in at the very first stage and we're wanting to move them through to the purchase stage, we have great information and resources there to show our authority and our expertise.
Blogging is also a fantastic way to improve your SEO rankings because Google, as we mentioned in number one, wants to know that you have high-quality content on your website and that you are backing up what you say that you're doing within your industry with content.
So blogging tells Google, oh, this person is an expert in personal branding and they talk about it all the time on the blog. But then, in addition to that, we can use Pinterest to drive consistent traffic to our website so when we post a blog it doesn't just disappear or we cross our fingers and hope that it shows up in Google. We can make sure that it's showing up on Pinterest.
When you’re writing your blogs, it’s important to create content you know your audience is searching for so that you’re showing up in that way, while also providing value.
A blog can serve so many purposes.
Imagine someone who doesn’t know anything about your brand and finds your post on Pinterest, they now have brand awareness.
The same can happen on Google.
Now imagine someone follows you on Instagram or is on your email list and thinking about working with you. They can see the value you provide and your blog and it might be the turning point for moving your relationship to paying client.
Blogging is incredibly powerful and can also be used to repurpose your content on other platforms, just another way to drive traffic back to your website. Learn more about repurposing here >>
Now, Pinterest requires a lot of training, it’s something I teach my clients inside of my program Brandmerry Academy and is not something I can teach you in a blog, but here are some tips to get you started.
Consistent pinning is important, meaning you don’t just post one pin a week. We recommend at least three times a week with 10-15 pins each of those days. To do this we recommend using Tailwind.
You’ll want to create eye-catching images for the platform, and a few variations for each piece of content. To do this we recommend Canva and Tailwind Create.
Just like Google, Pinterest is a search engine which means your titles and keywords matter. Take the time to research those!
Pinterest advertising can be an amazing underrated asset and you can sometimes get started for just $2 a day. Check out this blog post for all the details >>
INCREASE WEBSITE TRAFFIC TIP #3
YOUTUBE
Speaking of search engines, we cannot miss an opportunity to talk about YouTube.
YouTube just like the other two that I've mentioned before, is a powerful platform because it again is a search engine, meaning that your ideal customer is coming to this platform to search for very specific topics.
Since it’s a search engine it brings in quality leads because people are searching for your resources. In addition, video is a great way to build a connection because your audience is able to see and hear you. It’s one of the reasons I post weekly videos on Youtube!
YouTube is also a great way to build that know, like, and trust factor, to expand brand awareness, brand attraction, and to again get people off of the platform.
If you watch any of my Youtube videos then you’ll notice that reference additional videos and blogs, as well as free resources to get viewers on my email list.
So there's a lot of creative ways that you can think about using YouTube. While I prefer camera face-to-face video, you could also explore repurposing your podcast onto the platform.
You could explore creating trainings (think slideshows) if you don't want your face on camera and putting those onto the platform.
Just as with all of these strategies, make sure that you're paying attention to search engine optimization, that you're paying attention to what you're naming your video, the tags, the description because that's going to play a role in how your videos are viewed.
INCREASE WEBSITE TRAFFIC TIP #4
PUBLIC RELATIONS
And finally, number four, this is a tip and a tool that is so dear to my heart because it's actually my background. I have my degree in public relations. It was actually the world that I lived in before I moved over to non-profit and ultimately became an entrepreneur. And I've carried so much of that knowledge into the business that I run today.
One of my favorite ways to drive traffic to my website, to build that know, like, and trust factor with my ideal customer, and ultimately expand the awareness of my brand is through features.
Now, by features I mean podcasts, interviews, guest speaking opportunities, featured in a publication. It is absolutely amazing what happens when you get in front of a new audience through one of these trusted platforms.
What I mean by that is if I pitch a podcast, something I teach in my programs, and I'm invited on as a guest, I'm getting invited in front of a new audience and I'm getting invited by someone who that audience already knows, likes, and trust, so immediately my trust meter, even though this are people who've never heard of me before, is already high because the host trusts me enough to bring me onto the platform.
So we always see that after I am on a podcast interview that gets released or part of an interview series or featured in an article, website traffic explodes.
In fact, just last year I was featured on CNBC for an article all about my digital nomad life and how I've built my business to six figures while living in an RV with my family for two years.
The amount of traffic that I got to my website was amazing. And I made sure that my website was optimized. We sold many of my branding programs, lots of inquiries because I was really, really deliberate with saying this is who this website is for.
So of course, we got a lot of traffic and some of those people weren't the right fit. They just wanted to see what my business is about. But a lot of that traffic did convert.
Even though, and I'm not recommending that you drive a bunch of non-relevant traffic to your website, but even though a lot of those individuals didn't convert, CNBC is such a strong platform, they have really high domain authority, that the link to my website provides a really strong backlink.
Now, I'm nerding out a little bit about SEO. I know, I know. I talk about it again in that bonus video. You can check that out below. And of course, I teach all of these strategies inside of my programs.
CONCLUSION
Those are four of my favorite ways and truly underrated ways to drive traffic to your website.
It's not enough to rely on social media. It just isn't going to work in your favor for consistent traffic, not to mention you've got to consistently be posting.
With the platforms that I shared with you, one piece of content can live for a really long time or one strategy that you implement can drive traffic to your website for years and years to come.
I recommend you check out my free class where I teach you additional ways to market your business without relying on social media.
I'm sharing with you my top favorite ways, some of which you heard about today. I'm also sharing with you the four pieces that you absolutely have to have in your marketing strategy and three mistakes that I see entrepreneurs making.
You can go to brandmerry.com/marketing. The link is also in the description below to sign up for that free training.
All right. Go forth, drive traffic to your website. I can't wait to see what these strategies do for your business.

The Truth About SEO - Does it Really Matter?
Is SEO really important as an online entrepreneur? Should you spend your time researching and implementing when you could be doing something else? If you've ever wondered what all the hype is about SEO don't miss this post.
The Truth About SEO - Does it Really Matter?
BY MICHELLE KNIGHT
I stumbled into SEO, Search Engine Optimization, when I first started blogging. I was implementing tiny bits of information I would find online and crossed my fingers that it might work.
Honestly, I knew nothing at the time but did know that small changes could yield big results. Within months I discovered I was on page one of Google - that’s when I knew it was working.
I continued to put more emphasis on my strategy heading into 2019, learn as much as I could about SEO and over time I discovered that the majority of my leads were coming from Google and Pinterest.
Today, thanks to effective SEO strategies I experience thousands of website visitors every month.
Here’s a sneak peek at what happened from 2019 to 2020.
VS.
But, let’s not just talk about SEO, let's strip away all the mystery that we see in online marketing and have a real conversation about why every single business, no matter what you sell, should have a solid SEO strategy inside of your marketing.
What SEO Means
Let's first just break down into everyday terms what SEO is.
It's essentially search engine optimization, which you probably already know, but what is that exactly?
It means that when you are on search engine platforms like Google or even platforms that you might not think about, like Pinterest and YouTube, you can go to those platforms, type in questions, keywords, or a single word, and the algorithm will pull all of the resources that match those terms.
As a marketer, if you want to show up for people who are searching for those things, you want to make sure that you're paying attention to the SEO in your content.
This tool is giving the algorithm the information that you are sharing on your page so that you show up in your ideal client’s search results.
And yes, ranking on page one is kind of a big deal, most people don't scroll past page two or three, but even showing up on those early pages, page one, two or three can be super beneficial for your business.
Obviously, we're all shooting for page one and we're going to talk about how you can do just that for your industry.
The Consumer Buying Process and SEO
A few blogs ago, I introduced the consumer buying process and I presented the different phases that a customer goes through before they purchase.
Stage One: Problem or Need Recognition
Stage Two: Information Search
Stage Three: Evaluation of Alternatives
Stage Four: Purchase Decision
Stage Five: Post-Purchase Evaluation
We also broke it down as it relates to content creation. So, make sure you go back and watch that video. That's going to specifically tell you about each of those individual pieces so you have a better understanding of the client buying journey.
What I want you to focus on when we're talking about these five phases is that people are finding your content at different points in their journey.
Not everyone is going to be coming to you and discovering your brand with a credit card in hand, and not everyone is going to be coming to your brand wondering, "What am I supposed to be doing with my life?"
There are a wide variety of different stages that a consumer might be sitting in at any given time and that's why SEO can be incredibly powerful.
It allows you to create multiple resources, as well as the SEO on your site as a whole, to make sure that you are showing up for people at multiple stages of the buying process.
SEO MARKETING: 3 SEO ACTION STEPS
SEO TIP #1: SITE-WIDE SEO
The first thing you want to do is make sure that you have your site-wide SEO set up.
As I mentioned before in the consumer buying process there will be people looking for your services and industry specifically at stage four or five. Now, this is where your website homepage comes into play because when you set your site-wide SEO, and you rank on Google for specific keywords, the traffic is going to go to your homepage.
So, you want to make sure that your homepage is set up and ready to rock and roll. Last week I shared my 4-part framework for increasing conversions on your homepage, you can check that out here.
A lot of people miss this piece of the puzzle, they start to rank, and then they realize, "Oh, crap, everyone's just landing on my homepage which isn't optimized to collect leads or direct people to my offers, or send them to resources like my blog." We don’t want that so make sure you have an optimized homepage to start.
Ok, back to site-wide SEO.
I use Squarespace in my business so there's an actual section in Squarespace for site-wide SEO. Kajabi is another tool that I use and they have a section for site-wide SEO as well. No matter what platform you're using, there is going to be a section to set up the SEO for your website as a whole, typically found in the settings section.
Now when you’re choosing what to include in this section, I want you to think about those final stages of the buying process. The stage where someone already understands their problem, already understands their solution, they've looked around, and now they want to purchase.
That's what I want you to focus on when it comes to choosing keywords for site-wide SEO - think about your industry or product. For instance, “chemical-free skincare” or “business coach” or “wedding photographer Australia”.
In my case, if someone is looking for a branding coach and they're ready to invest in a branding coach, they might Google “branding coach,” and my website is going to pop up.
If someone is looking for a personal branding consultant, they might type in “personal branding consultant” and my website will pop up.
It's much easier to convert those individuals because they are ready to invest and by having this SEO in place you can create a consistent stream of clients.
You’ll use these keywords to format your Site Title and Site Description, which is another place to include some of those keywords but typically is written more conversationally and enticingly.
In addition, you can give it another boost but also include those keywords on your home page individually as well.
I'm not going to go into that entire strategy today. That's something I teach inside of Brandmerry Academy, but if you’re choosing to do it yourself then you want to keep in mind that research is everything.
It's a mistake that many entrepreneurs make. They might say, "Okay, fantastic, this is my title. I'm a unicorn princess coach," and that's what they put for their site title.
No one's Googling that, right? And this is where I often say that your titles shouldn't be fluffy, they should be rooted in data and research. So, using some of the tools that I mentioned in a previous post on my favorite marketing tools, Ubersuggest or Keywords Everywhere are great tools that you can use to see how much traffic a particular keyword gets.
Now ranking for an industry doesn't mean that you need to have like 10,000 or 30,000 searches every single month, it could be as simple as 150 to 500 because those people are further along in the buying process so they are looking for a very, very specific solution to their problem.
TO RECAP:
Do your research to discover what people are researching at stage four of the buying process
Implement a Site-Wide Title and Description
Add those keywords to your homepage in your copy
Optimize your homepage for conversions
SEO TIP #2: BLOGGING AND PINTEREST
Number two is supporting what you're saying you're known for, i.e. Site-Wide SEO, with additional resources on your website through blogging.
Blogging does a few different, incredible things for ranking your website.
Number one, blogging is an awesome resource. So, if someone wants to get to know you, you want to support them in moving through the buying process, blogging is a great way to showcase your expertise.
In addition to that, many people who are at stage one of the buying process are just looking to understand their problem, looking for solutions to their problem, or just trying to get some information about what they are experiencing.
That's where blogging could be incredibly helpful. And if you use SEO on your blog strategically, then your blogs will show up in Google Search. For instance, my ideal customer at Stage One might be searching for content creation strategies and one of my blogs will show up.
It is, I would say, much easier to rank for your site as a whole, which is why that's number one than it is to rank individual blog posts. But the more that you get into SEO and the more that you practice utilizing keywords in your headers and optimizing your title, then it is more likely that your blogs will rank on Google.
In addition to supporting your ideal customer on their journey, Google also loves content that supports what you ultimately say you are doing. So, if I say I'm a branding coach and I have a lot of blogs on branding, Google likes that a lot, and they're going to use that to help me show up on their search engine.
It also helps with other search engine platforms as well.
Think about Pinterest! Remember, Pinterest is an SEO platform and a great place to feature your blog content to get in front of your ideal customer.
Putting your blog content on your website, sharing it on Pinterest and making sure it's optimized there as well can help drive consistent traffic to your platform.
Many of those individuals on Pinterest are at the beginning stages of the buying process where they're just looking for solutions, and your blog can show up for them. So, making sure that you're creating supporting content within your niche, within your industry on your blog, and that's a consistent part of your marketing strategy.
SEO TIP #3: SEO RESEARCH
It's one thing to blog, it's another thing to do your dang research.
So, one of the best pieces of advice that I could give to you when it comes to content as a whole is to do your research and make sure that you're optimizing your content on Pinterest, on your blog, and YouTube for SEO.
What does that mean? That means that you might have a fantastic idea in your head of something that you want to share and I want you to research that topic to make sure that you're choosing the best title and the best keywords so people find it.
On the flip side of that, you might not know what you want to talk about at all and you can use these tools like Ubersuggest and Keywords Everywhere to search for specific topics that you know are relevant for your ideal customer and get a plethora of topic ideas and content that you can share that you already know is going to do well on search engines.
When planning your content give yourself some extra time to do your SEO research.
There are so many resources out there that will give you the answers, you don't have to just wonder, "How many people are searching for this?"
The data is there.
If you take an extra step when you're mapping out your content for 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, like I like to do over here at Brandmerry, you're making sure that the titles, the URL that you're creating, and the keywords on your content are going to show up for people.
CONCLUSION
Remember, so many people create their website and then it just sits there because they're not getting traffic.
SEO is the answer to getting consistent traffic, leads and conversions. And utilizing search engine platforms like Pinterest, Youtube and Google will allow you to continue to scale your business with ease.
I hope that this was helpful for you in understanding what SEO is and why it's important. Make sure you go back and read those previous posts specifically on the client buying journey and optimizing your homepage.

3 Daily Marketing Actions to Grow a Sustainable Business in 2021
There is a lot to do when running an online business, but there are three core actions that if repeated daily will ensure sustainable growth. These three daily action should be habits in your schedule for 2021.
3 Daily Marketing Actions to Grow a Sustainable Business in 2021
BY MICHELLE KNIGHT
People always ask me, "What should I do every day, Michelle?"
Being an entrepreneur is fun, because your days do change, but if you're anything like me, you love a routine, you love habits, and you kind of want that check mark to just go through every single day.
I've learned while building my multiple six-figure business over the past five years that there are actually three things that you can do every single day to make sure you're advancing your business.
And I think that's the big piece of the puzzle.
We want to make sure that the actions that we're taking are moving our business forward.
If you're at the beginning stages of running your business, you probably have a lot going on: you're building out a website, you're worried about your brand foundations, the list goes on.
Then as you start to scale your business, you might be creating more courses and products and serving your clients. Sometimes you end your day and you're like, "What did I actually do today?"
So when we focus in on these three things, no matter what your availability looks like in a day, whether you've got an entire eight hours because you're working from home building your business, or you're actually fitting your business in while you work your nine-to-five, if you focus on these three things, you will be golden when it comes to marketing your brand and your business.
For each of these action steps, I'm going to share a little bit more about why they're important, and then I'm going to give you some tips on how you can actually implement those in your business.
Some of these, you will notice that you have to be actively doing those every single day. But for the majority of them, we get systems in place, and you actually don't need to be posting or creating content every single day.
But I won't get too far ahead of myself, let's get into the very first thing that you want to focus on.
MARKETING DAILY ACTION #1: Grow Your Audience
Every single day, you want to make it a priority to grow your audience/community, whatever you like to refer to them as. Essentially, a big part of being an entrepreneur and creating consistent sales comes back to creating consistent brand awareness. Getting people into the top of your funnel.
If you think of an upside-down triangle, we have your cold audience at the top, that's the most broad, and as the triangle gets a little bit more narrow, we go through warming them up, and ultimately leading to the sale.
Well, not everyone who comes in the top leads to a sale, and that's why it's important to consistently have that traffic coming in the top through your lead magnet, but also through your content. Then focus on warming them up through your value, through your authority, building that know, like, and trust factor, ultimately leading them to the sale.
Growing your audience is an essential part of running a sustainable business, but so many entrepreneurs don't make it a priority every single day, but I really hope that you are here to change that in 2021.
So, what does this look like?
Well, to kick it off, you need to have a way to build your email list. Having an email list is very, very important. We don't own social media, and if you're relying on Instagram or Facebook or another platform to build your community, sell, and stay in contact with your audience, we're going to have a problem.
If something were to happen on one of those platforms, you have no way of getting in contact with all of those people that were big fans of your brand, and that's why no matter what you sell, it's important that you have an email list.
So, in order to build that email list you want to have some sort of lead magnet.
So essentially someone lands on your website or landing page, you say, "I've got a free gift for you.” Maybe it's a PDF, a video series, a webinar, a quiz that they can take, a discount code, all of those things count. In exchange for that free gift, they give you their name and email address, so it's a win-win for everyone involved, and you grow your community.
It's also a way to make sure that you're building a community of the right people, meaning the right people for your brand, your message, and the work that you're putting out into the world.
Whereas if you aren't specific with a freebie and you're just saying, "Hey, sign up for updates," anyone could really be joining your list. There's no way to know if it's the right fit for them. So having that very specific gift or freebie or lead magnet is very important.
Then we focus on making sure that every single day, you are growing your email community, even if it's just by one subscriber.
So how do we do that?
Well, the old school way was to rely on Instagram and Facebook, which required you to post every single day. You don't want to post about your freebie every single day, so you were maybe talking about your freebie or your free gift every other day.
And what’s worse, you would spend all this time to create this content and then it would disappear within five hours, so not everyone was seeing it anyways.
I know that sounds a little stressful, and some of you are still using those platforms, but the good news is, you don't have to do that. We really believe in simplified marketing over here at Brandmerry, and I have mastered some of these evergreen strategies, and I want to share those with you today.
The idea is that "Evergreen" content is content that someone can find at any time and is relevant, there's no specific deadline. And the platform that really works best for this, and truly is my favorite, is Pinterest.
Pinterest is a search engine, meaning people go there to search for very specific things, they come across your pin, they come across your graphic, which leads them to your website, which of course, then they can join your email list.
YouTube, another great one. YouTube is also a search engine platform, obviously focused more on video content, but again, people are going to YouTube searching for very specific things, finding your content, watching your video and clicking a link to grab your freebie right in the description.
Then there's the option that kind of combines all of them, and ultimately helps you stand out on Google, and that's blogging. So I'm a big fan of blogging over here, I recommend all of my clients have a blog.
Don't worry, that doesn't mean that you have to write two blogs every single week, and it doesn't mean that you necessarily have to always be creating new content, you can repurpose your content as well.
With blogging, you are able to create high-value content, which is very, very important, and that ultimately can help you rank on Google using the power of SEO, search engine optimization.
So people are going to Google, searching for things, which we all do, and finding your content.
You can also, then use that same blog to push it out on Pinterest, which was the platform I shared before, and heck, you want to take it a step further? Use that blog framework to record a video and put it on YouTube!
These platforms are really powerful because your content is living longer. Your content is not disappearing after five hours, it's lasting for years. We have blog posts that are still performing that I wrote back in 2017, and they're still getting leads into my business.
So when you're thinking about growing your email list every single day, I know it can feel really stressful if you're currently relying on social media, but it doesn't have to be. Once you put these pieces in place, you're really consistent with them, you will see that consistent traffic coming to your website, coming to your lead magnet, and growing your community.
These organic methods are the way to do it, and what I teach inside of my program, Brandmerry Academy, but if you are in a place to invest in ads, those are also a great thing to do as well.
If you're a little further along in your business and you're wanting to grow your community, advertising is a great substitute because you can create these highly-optimized ads, run them, and then every single day, you're getting leads.
That's more of a hands-off approach, although I still want you creating high-value content, all right? Because that's going to lead us into the second thing, and the second one is nurturing your audience.
Read my blog about Pinterest ads here.
MARKETING DAILY ACTION #2: Nurture Your Audience
Every day, you're growing your audience, and every day, you're taking a single action to nurture your growing audience as well.
Now, this is really, really important, because this is where the trust forms.
This is where they get to know more about you, this is where they get to learn more about your brand and how it's going to help them solve their problem, and ultimately building that brand connection and that brand affinity with you that leads them to becoming a paying and recurring client.
Now, the good news here is that I'm not asking you to come up with fresh, new content every single day to show up for your community. This is why I really love the art of repurposing.
Repurposing will allow you to take a single piece of content, let's use the blog for example, and expand that over the course of, let's say, a week.
So if you have that single blog post, you could then:
share it on Instagram one day
email it to your list one day
go on Instagram Live and recap the blog one day
create a YouTube video about it
There are all of these different things that you can do centered around one core piece of content. Which really takes the pressure and the stress off of constantly thinking of new things to talk about, and allows you to really become an expert in one area. It allows you to create that high-value content rather than a bunch of mediocre content that doesn't actually help your business.
So when you're thinking of serving, nurturing your audience, it really is about building that trust, and providing value.
Again, I'm not opposed to using social media. What I am opposed to is relying on it to grow your business and neglecting your email list when it comes to your nurture content. Don’t forget to email them about your blogs, videos and stories as well.
When you're thinking of your content, really think big picture: "How can I extend the life of this piece of content that I'm spending all my precious time creating, and show up for my audience multiple times a week no matter where they are?"
Repurposing allows you to show up on multiple platforms without feeling super stressed out in the process, and meeting your audience exactly where they are with the content that they love.
MARKETING DAILY ACTION #3: Make a Sale
What's really cool about this third part, which is making a sale, is that the actions that you've already started taking are leading to the sale. So much of the selling process actually happens at the marketing level, meaning that your daily actions for showing up and creating high-value content, serving your audience, is moving them along in the buying process if you're doing it effectively.
So when it comes time to actually having a sales conversation, or putting the offer out there and having them click a button to buy on your checkout page, it's a lot easier because you've already built that trust.
I actually love to make it a goal, and encourage you, especially if you're just starting your business, to try and make a sale every single day.
Will you make a sale every single day?
Probably not, but you are putting yourself out there and you're talking about your offer, which is half the battle.
Too many entrepreneurs don't actually tell their audience about their offer, and then their audience doesn't know about their offer, and they wonder why they haven't made any money.
Every day if you make it a goal to make a sale, you will notice that over time and over consistently doing that, more and more people will be reaching out to you saying, "I'm ready to invest," or hitting that "Buy now" button on your course, or reaching out to you for coaching or services.
A lot of the work around selling has already been done, that's the good news. But when it comes to selling and actively selling, you want to make sure that you're doing that every single day.
Don't take a passive approach to selling, "Oh, I hope they find my website and hope it works out." Actively put it out there.
This can include incorporating your CTA for your offer into your existing marketing strategy.
When you're emailing your list about your blog, put it in the footer or the P.S. line that you have availability for discovery calls.
If you are putting a post out on social media that you're putting out there for your audience, put a P.S. line about your offer.
Create a video that's specific about your promotion.
Send an email specific about your promotion.
If you take these daily actions not only are you getting better at actively selling, but your audience is now familiar with your offers. Because I’ve got to tell you, if you surveyed your audience, most of them probably wouldn't even know that you have a paid service, or what it is, because we really just don't talk about our paid offers enough.
Conclusion
So, those are three things that you have to do every single day.
These can fit into a 15-minute window every single day, or of course, you can expand on them depending on the season of business.
I'm telling you, if every single day you're focused on these three core actions, you will advance your business, and you will contribute to building a sustainable business, which is truly, truly important.
If you are ready to master your marketing, and more specifically, simplify the process, then I want to invite you to learn more about Brandmerry Academy.

I don't want you just spending all of your time on social media and then feeling really down on yourself because it's not working. So if you are ready to master that process in 2021, to rank on page one of Google, to create high-value, consistent blog content, to actually get daily traffic to your website that's probably just sitting there right now, and so much more, I want to invite you to join us inside of Brandmerry Academy.

Facebook Group Marketing: Why I Don’t Recommend it and What to do Instead
Feeling overwhelmed with the constant need to post in Facebook Groups to “hopefully” build your email list and increase revenue? You’re not alone. Read the blog to learn why I don’t recommend this marketing strategy and what to do instead.
Facebook Group marketing used to work, and for some people with endless amounts of time and serious patience, it could possibly work.
But, here’s the thing business and marketing shouldn’t be hard and it definitely shouldn’t be that time-consuming.
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with the need to come up with fresh content daily and schedule 10-15 minutes to engage in Facebook Groups.
Struggle to find Facebook Groups where your ideal client is genuinely engaging and not just there to pitch their services as well.
Feel a bit defeated that the strategy that seems to work for so many ISN’T working for you.
Keep reading because I’m about to save you so much time and energy.
FACEBOOK GROUP MARKETING
Back in 2016, I started my first Facebook Group. I wanted it to be a place for my ideal customers to come together, share my content and expertise, build trust, and of course sign clients.
I freaking loved it, but in 2020 I closed my group due to changes in marketing and the new and more advanced platforms available to me.
Plus, even though I started my Facebook Group in 2016, as a way to build the community I didn’t neglect my email list. They grew together in size and as I started to pay more and more attention to conversions I saw that my email list converted better than the group AND didn’t take as much of my precious time.
Facebook Groups (i.e. having your own as a way to build and form a community) still works, but don’t neglect to build your email list as well.
But, having your own Facebook Group is not what this is about - it’s about plopping yourself in other Facebook Groups, owned typically by entrepreneurs or organizations, and pushing your content out.
CLIENT ATTRACTION MARKETING
The reason this marketing strategy doesn’t work comes down to two reasons.
Reason #1: Facebook Groups have changed. While you use to be able to engage, post your own content with links to your website, share your videos and your freebies, it’s typically not allowed anymore.
You find yourself creating content to build trust in a community that really isn’t there for you, posting your freebies and offers on a Share thread every week in the hopes someone might message you, click your profile, and land on your website.
Reason #2: Facebook Group marketing is a push strategy, rather than a pull strategy.
Push means blasting your information, your story, and your expertise onto people. People who may or may not be your ideal customer. It’s like casting a line into the ocean and hoping you catch the right fish that will pay you for your services - the odds aren’t great.
Pull strategy (or client attraction marketing) is about pulling in the people searching for your services, products, and expertise. Not only do you experience a higher conversion rate, but it’s easier on you!
4 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR MARKETING STRATEGY
So what do you do, if you’re not posting multiple times a week in a Facebook Group and carving out 10-15 minutes daily to engage, how do you grow your email list?
Here are 4 things to consider when choosing your marketing strategy:
1. FOCUS ON GETTING IN FRONT OF YOUR IDEAL CUSTOMER
As with all marketing you want to make sure you’re putting your efforts (i.e. content) in front of your ideal customer. This is why ideal client work is so important and one of the key pillars I teach inside of Roadmap to Freedom.
Choosing your platforms for marketing is about where your audience is hanging out. And I don’t mean just where they are looking for your services, more on that later. I mean where do they spend their time? With the right strategies, you can reach them! This is why I love Pinterest. Pinterest has 416 million active monthly users on its platform and while most people are using it for fun, it’s one of my favorite ways to land content in front of my ideal customer.
Pinterest counts for 90% of my website traffic and last month that was $18k individuals.
2. GO WHERE THEY ARE SEEKING YOUR SUPPORT
Another thing to consider is where people are looking for tips and tools as it relates to your industry. This is why it’s so important to put your content on a search engine optimized platform (think Google/ Blogging, Pinterest, and even YouTube).
When people are searching for your information, it means they are further along in the buying process. They understand they have a problem and are in the process of exploring options to fix the problem.
This is why every entrepreneur needs to be showing up on a search engine optimized platform!
3. DON’T NEGLECT THOSE READY TO BUY
Speaking of the buying process, do you have marketing measures in place to get in front of people seeking our services specifically?
If not you are missing out! This is where sitewide SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes into play and is necessary for every single business, no matter what you sell.
When you correctly optimize SEO you’re able to rank on page one for your industry and your products, therefore bringing in people who are ready to purchase.
Google ranking is the reason my 1:1 services have been booked for an entire year and why I teach my clients how to do it as well inside of Roadmap to Freedom.
4. BUILD STRONGER BRAND AWARENESS
Aside from the amazing tips above, most of which revolve around search engine platforms, it’s important to take into account brand awareness and longevity.
Platforms like Facebook and Instagram have content that expires too quickly. You’re lucky if your content shows up in the feed after 24 hours, and if we’re talking Facebook Groups it’s more like 15 minutes.
When you’re taking the time and energy to create content, don’t you want it to last?
When you focus on the platforms I’m sharing below, your content can last years!
Seriously, I have blogs that are still getting consistent traffic from Pinterest and Google since 2017.
In order to create a sustainable business, you need to think about the longevity of content.
MY TOP 4 WAYS TO BUILD YOUR EMAIL LIST AND INCREASE REVENUE
Maybe you’ve already caught on to my absolute favorite marketing platforms, but let’s recap.
Google (SEO + Blogging): Your site needs to be set up and optimized for the Google search engine as a way to attract ideal customers who are further along in the buying process. The beautiful thing is with site-wide SEO you don’t need to keep updating it!
Pinterest (Blogging): This combination is my favorite, seriously I’m in love. Writing a weekly high-value blog post and sharing it on Pinterest is a great marketing strategy. Not to mention it takes less time and energy than posting daily in groups or on social media.
Youtube: As I mentioned before Youtube is a search engine platform featuring videos. If you’re a video person, using Youtube to get in front of your ideal customer can be huge for business. Don’t forget as with all these strategies optimizing for search is essential, you have to know what titles, keywords, descriptions, and more work to see a return.
Instagram Video: I couldn’t do a blog on marketing and not speak about the awesome changes to Instagram within the last year. Now, while I don’t recommend Instagram being your main platform, it’s an awesome way to build brand awareness, specifically with video. Video content (think IGTV, Stories, and Reels) has a longer lifespan with the algorithm, and with Instagram’s desire to increase watch time, more likely to end up on the Explore page or be discovered via hashtags.
CONCLUSION
If you’re not already using one of these platforms it’s time.
If you’re currently feeling overwhelmed with content creation, growing your list and marketing in general...it’s time.
And the good news is you don’t have to do it alone. You can learn all of these strategies, the tech and how-to’s inside of my signature program Roadmap to Freedom.
